Clint Sloan | Beverage Director and Sommelier {back to team page}
Originally from Connecticut, Clint Sloan moved to South Carolina in 1995 to attend the College of Charleston. He joined McCrady’s right out of college and rapidly worked his way up through the ranks, becoming Beverage Director and Sommelier in 2005. Clint appreciates the ever-changing nature of wine, and beverage management in general, and is committed to ongoing education. He passed his Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory Course in 2001 and was certified in 2007. He was a semi-finalist in the Southeast Region Young Sommelier Competition in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2009. He regularly tours Napa and Sonoma, and he attended the first wine workshop hosted by Master Sommelier Greg Harrington held in Las Vegas in 2007, “Oregon Pinot Camp” in the Willamette Valley, and “Walla Walla University” in Washington. In 2009, Clint Sloan was voted "Best Sommelier" by the city of Charleston in Charleston City Paper's "Best of Charleston" awards.

Clint is passionate about wine, but sees service as equally important. The guest experience is about more than just a good product, and fundamental to good service is carefully listening to guests so that wine recommendations reflect their tastes, not his. Ultimately, his goal is to ensure that each diner perceives the chosen wine as an extension of the meal, complementing rather than competing with the chef’s flavors and textures. {back to team page}
